Owl Holiday Cottage is a very comfortable self catering, holiday cottage situated in wonderful Dorset countryside. The modern stables conversion is a true ‘home from home’ it’s versatile 1 bedroom can provide a super kingsize bed or twin beds both also available with guest bed for young child and space for a travel cot. The well laid out country cottage is located on a little farm set in beautiful countryside, with a free to access 14.4 acre Butterfly Conservation Centre within easy walking distance. We also have our own small SSSI that is a home to the rare Brown Hairstreak butterfly.

Is set in the lovely rural village of Hazelbury Bryan, near the old market town of Sturminster Newton & in the heart of the famous Thomas Hardy’s ‘Wessex’ – the picturesque Dorset countryside close to Devon, Somerset & Wiltshire – it is a central location for enjoying a family touring holiday & is in an excellent walking and cycling area.
The Cottage is a single storey converted modern stable block belonging to Hilltop Farm which, historically, was a much larger working farm complete with stables, milking parlour etc. It’s land now extends to 10 acres that visitors can enjoy with a stroll around the fields along mowed* paths (*subject to weather/season) to enjoy the lovely views, butterflies, flora & fauna and farm animals present according to the season.
Shops and pubs are available within a mile and there are many other good pubs & restaurants in the surrounding area serving great food and offering outdoor eating/children’s play areas.
Alners Gorse the very pretty Butterfly Conservation area is just a short walk away (about a quarter of a mile) either by road or green footpaths/bridleways and there are numerous other walks to choose from in the locality.
Fun & adventure is available close by for the younger children at Coolplay indoor adventure playground & for the older children there is Henley Hillbillies activity centre (open all year round) where you can ride a Quad bike, fly a miniature Hovercraft, drive a Mini Maverick (Mini car), try clay pigeon shooting, archery, fire a crossbow or air rifle – both centres just 4 miles away. With lovely walks on the doorstep, fishing, riding and golf available locally this is the perfect Dorset holiday cottage for those who enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.
